Choose “the possible over the probable !!!” #AI

Just watched Tristan Harris’s latest TED Talk: “Why AI is our ultimate test.”

I’m sort of used to thinking about technology in terms of infrastructure, innovation, apps, etc… and having as much as possible a business eye to it. But Harris reframes the conversation: AI isn’t just a tool — it’s sort of “dwarfs all other technologies combined !”.

Tristan challenges us to use AI not to manipulate attention or optimize profit, but to amplify human well-being, trust, and civic resilience by finding a narrow path between chaos and dystopia.

Three thoughts :
– Stewardship over speed – The race to adopt AI shouldn’t outpace our responsibility to guide it wisely.
– Transparency in algorithms – Our audiences deserve to know not just what they’re seeing, but why they’re seeing it.
– Public value by design – We must ensure AI in public media serves inclusion, not division. Let’s also rethink engagement – Let’s shift focus from virality to public value. Engagement that informs and empowers, not just entertains…

This is more than a tech issue — it’s a cultural one. It’s about the kind of society we want to live in, and public media must play a role in shaping it.
